If you have multiple network connections on your computer, such as a laptop with an ethernet connection and a wireless connection, you can set the priority of the connections so Windows will use one connection over the other.
Set Network Device Priority
-
Click Start -> Control Panel
-
Click Network and Sharing Center
-
Click Chage Adapter Settings (on the left)
-
Tap the Alt key on your keyboard to display the menu at the top of the window
-
Click Advanced -> Advanced settings
-
On the Adapters and Bindings tab, set your prefered order by clicking on an adapter and use the green arrows to move the adaptor up or down the prefernce order.
-
Once you are happy with the order, click OK
