If you have multiple network connections on your computer, such as a laptop with an ethernet connection and a wireless connection, you can set the priority of the connections so Windows will use one connection over the other.

Set Network Device Priority

  1. Click Start -> Control Panel
  2. Click Network and Sharing Center
  3. Click Chage Adapter Settings (on the left)
  4. Tap the Alt key on your keyboard to display the menu at the top of the window
  5. Click Advanced -> Advanced settings
  6. On the Adapters and Bindings tab, set your prefered order by clicking on an adapter and use the green arrows to move the adaptor up or down the prefernce order.
  7. Once you are happy with the order, click OK
