Where is Movie Maker in Windows 7!?

Unlike Windows XP and Vista before it, Windows 7 does not include Windows Movie Maker "out of the box". Instead, Windows 7 users are encouraged to download and install Windows Live Movie Maker, which is part of the Windows Live suite of applications. You can download the Windows Live suite here: http://download.live.com/

Live Movie Maker - not so good.

For people that are familiar with the older versions of Windows Movie Maker, Windows Live Movie Maker unfortunately comes as a bit of a disappointment. It doesn't have a separate timeline, which makes it difficult to edit precisely, you can't overlay text on your video but above all is useless in countries that use PAL formatted video (like Australia). At time of writing, Windows Live Movie Maker only exports NTSC resolutions and frame rates, and will convert your PAL footage into NTSC upon export.

OK, so where is a Windows Movie Maker I can use?

The good news is, you can still use Windows Movie Maker 2.6 on Windows 7. Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (which was designed for Vista users that could not run the version included with Vista) runs fine on my x64 version of Windows 7 Ultimate. You can download Windows Movie Maker 2.6 from Microsoft's website here:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=D6BA5972-328E-4DF7-8F9D-068FC0F80CFC&displaylang=en
