Change Internet Explorer to go through a proxy server:

Open Internet Explorer from the desktop icon, or start menu item

Click Tools, and select Internet Options from the menu. The Internet Options window will appear.

Click on the Connections tab at the top of the Internet Options window.

Click the LAN Settings button (towards the bottom of the window)

Put a tick in the box next to "Use a proxy server for your LAN...."

Type the address of the proxy server on your network - either it's network name or IP address - into the Address box.

Type the port number of the proxy server - usually 8080 or 3128 - into the Port box.

Optional: If you have computers or other network connected equipment that you do not want to access through the proxy:

  1. Click the Advanced button.
  2. Type the addresses of the devices you do not want to go through the proxy to access in the exceptions box. You can also use the asterix (*) character as a "wildcard" eg 192.168.1.* or *.local. You can separate multiple exceptions with the semicolon (;) character.
  3. Click the OK button.

Click the OK button.
